A Word on Activity Trackers
Whether you're training for a marathon, learning the ropes of parenthood, or getting the latest stats about your favorite athletes or sports team, today's technology enables us to track more information than ever before. Americans are tracking their health using pedometers, wristbands or online programs that help them monitor their sleep, dietary habits and levels of aerobic exercise, to name a few. A recent survey done by the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project showed that seven out of ten people surveyed tracked some aspect of their health regularly, while half of those surveyed also kept a written record. The free and easy to use Fire Up your Feet activity tracker enables parents, teachers and children to join the activity tracking revolution! Tracking physical activity offers the intrinsic benefit of helping people take control of their health, one step, one day at a time. If you have the energy for activity, you have energy for ‘track-tivity!’
To show how easy, impactful and fun tracking can be, as of September 1 I have started using the Fire Up Your Feet activity tracker for the next four weeks in preparation for the Fall Activity Challenge. Every week I’ll post a log of my activity, and maybe even share some Tweets or Facebook posts about my experiences. Join me in the fun by tracking your activity in advance of our official October 1-31 Fall Activity Challenge. Our new demo videos demonstrate just how simple it is to register. The hope is that the information I generate from using the Fire Up Your Feet activity tracker will motivate me to become more committed to keeping a daily exercise routine. See if I'm right, or see how Fire Up Your Feet can help convert the actions taken during the month-long event into a lifelong habit of daily physical activity for yourself.
